2010年8月1-12日,本会与查尔斯沃思集团美国公司共同举办了一次中国高校科技期刊编辑与美国同行的学术交流。此次活动内容丰富,成效显著。为方便广大会员及时了解有关情况,共享考察成果,本会在征得有关方面同意后,将陆续把有关报告发布在本会网站。

1. Choose the Editorial Board
• Select subject matter experts
– 172 Editorial Board members
– More than 30 disciplines spanning the biological, physical, and social sciences
• Recruit established leaders in their field
– Editorial Board is comprised of NAS Members
• Enlist rising stars in the field
– Invite up and coming experts to serve as guest editors and reviewers
• Find people dedicated to the journal
2. Recruit High-Impact Manuscripts
• Rely on Editorial Board to guide content
– Board members know what is going on in their field
– Maintains high standards of the journal
• Invite promising researchers personally
– Use a Recruiting Editor to build relationships
• Provide incentive for invited papers, if accepted for publication
– Waive publication charges
– Feature on cover
3. Select Topics of Current Interest
• Attend scientific conferences and meetings
– Poster sessions and seminars provide a first look at emerging research in a given field
– Communicate with attendees to learn what they are working on and encourage them to submit their research
• Highlight exceptional articles with a Commentary
– During the review process, a board member may recommend a paper for additional coverage
– Expert provides opinion about the research

6. Communicate Regularly with Authors

– Rely on editorial staff to respond quickly and effectively with both authors and reviewers

7. Prepare Papers for Publication
• Establish journal style and policies
